TALKING
CLIMATE CHANGE
It’s a beautiful day at the beach.
But in the distance you see a wave forming
…and it’s titanic!
You’ve been studying waves your whole life. You know this big one is unprecedented and unstoppable — because you predicted it. Now it is about to hit the beach.
But people all around you still have their backs to the ocean.
You signal, you yell, you jump up and down. Why don’t they turn around and see what’s coming?
This is the climate-change nightmare scientists like me can’t wake up from. After decades of advising, planning and publishing, I finally know how to get people’s attention.
It takes more than yelling and hand waving. It means speaking directly to people, making the science understandable and meaningful while respecting personal values. The education they receive at this very moment will determine the story of us and the legacy we leave generations to come.
There’s much we can do. Let’s face it together.

What Andy’s audiences say

My mother-in-law attended your recent presentation. She’s no longer a climate change denier as a result, which is a pretty impressive about-face.
Rob J.
Los Gatos

Lauren Kahn
Attendee, Claremont Country Club

Peter Carson
Hillhouse Club

Our members were comfortable asking a breadth of questions, creating the rich exchange that signifies a successful presentation.
Several members were so engaged by what they learned that they asked Andy to speak to other groups in which they participate.
Mary D’Elia
Albany Rotary Club

His polished presentation not only explains the basics of climate science in accessible terms, but also is full of information regarding how fast changes are happening, both globally and locally. Many club members came up to me afterwards to comment on the quality of the program, which was one of the best we’ve had this year.
